The Most popular superbowl ad... (drumroll please) is the Doritos baby ad

Another great Superbowl commercial.

Yesterday, I wrote about the great Clint Eastwood Chrysler superbowl commercial.

Then today I saw in the USA Today that another commercial won top spot in the USA Today's Ad Meter. It is the Doritos baby commercial.

I had to see it, so I went to YouTube. It is great! Here it is so you can watch it too:

Yay!

The Clint Eastwood Superbowl commercial people are talking about!

I know loads of people watched the Super Bowl yesterday. I saw part of it, but missed this Chrysler commercial, starring Clint Eastwood.

I watched this commercial today and really liked it. It is justifiably popular. If you missed it, here it is:

10 of my Facebook Friends or Pages - sharing

Facebook friends that inspire.

Today I am sharing some of my Facebook friends and groups that always seem to have a great photo or story to share. Many are entrepreneurs, some sell information about making a living online and others may be authors or protesters.

Still others include themselves in the 99 Percent, blogging and putting videos on about the popular Occupy Main Street movement.

I think many are open to getting NEW friends, or may have Fan or "Like" pages, so you may be able to add them. Here are a few of my favorites:

#1. I'm a Misfit and I Love it (Consulting/Business Services) - lots of pictures and sayings.

#2. Occupy Wall Street - protest news from around the world and the U.S.

#3. Hundreds of Hilarious Pics - like it says. Sometimes an LOL, sometimes a smile.

#4. Twig the Fairy - this person dresses up like a beautiful Fairy and has lots of pics. She actually may BE a fairy, it is hard to tell.

#5. The Alzheimer's Reading Room - (Bob DeMarco) - this Facebook page links up to their website, that features research about Alzheimer's, stories for caregivers, and a lot more.

#6. Seniors for a Democratic Society - lots of great leftie political news and art. Fun.

#7. The FlyLady Facebook page - this Facebook page is great for people who need help organizing and feng shui-ing their home. They have a site too.

#8. Occupy News - More news, photos, and commentary about the Occupy Movement.

#9. Failbook - the worst of Facebook. Some of these are pretty gross, some are bad, and some are pretty funny. Just saying.

#10. The Coffee Party USA Page - the opposite of the Tea Party in many ways.

I have more favorite Facebook pages I will list soon. List yours below as a comment.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi everyone.

Did you eat Chinese food today?

If you did, chances are you found out that today was Chinese New Year. It is the most important social and economic holiday in China. (I didn't know this until today!)

The Chinese New Year 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. I saw a sign somewhere last week that said the Dragon was a Water Dragon. So are there different kinds? What kind if the official Dragon of the Chinese New Year? According to the article at About.com, the Dragon was a terrible monster who preyed on villagers.

I did a little more researching and found out that on the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, (historically) there is a Lantern Festival. I would love to see that. I didn't find out about which kind of dragon it is this year, (yet!) but I hope to find out soon. When people just celebrate the first day of the Chinese New Year, it also can be called the Spring Festival.

At the Chinese restaurant I had lunch at today, they were getting ready for a wonderful feast that evening. They were going to have a multi-course meal for their lucky customers that evening. The restaurant was Chinatown in Green Hills. What a fun restaurant. It makes me feel like such a VIP to eat there.

Anyway, here is hoping the Year of the Dragon is a very auspicious year.

Sincerely,

Betsyanne

Delicious and Reddit... my first checking stops

Are you on Delicious? Or did you use to be on Del.i.cio.us? (note the periods...)

Have you not checked in there for a few months? You are in for a bad surprise.

Anyone who did not get emails from them and did not migrate their bookmarks have zero bookmarks to migrate. There is no place to get them, they erased them.

But you can put all of them back one by one in a different way there.

I registered again using my old info. and found out about this yesterday.

Which again goes towards my own advice backup, backup, backup. Luckily, I have been using Firefox to save my bookmarks for awhile, so I didn't lose everything.

I made a web page on the Betsyanne website using a Delicious widget. I will need to redo that page too.

I like to pretend I know what is going on with the websites I use, but I sure got blindsided here. Of course, then I had to go on the 'net to find other people who lost everything there. It was kind of fun in a bad way to read these. Some people actually thought they saved their bookmarks but didn't. And some were super-users who lost thousands of their bookmarks. So I guess it could have been worse.

Next up: Reddit - and going to all the other bookmarking or social networking sites I can think of to check my account. I went there today to check that one out. I had a whole bunch of subscriptions on the site that I didn't remember signing up for. But the site looks pretty much the same, and my name and password worked. ::whew!::

Just a heads up.

Poverty in America on C-Span - wow!

I watched a wonderful show today.

This is the longest post I've done in a long time.

This show I watched tonight is a symposium on poverty. Suzie Orman was on it, along with filmmaker and activist Michael Moore, Majora Carter, Urban Revitalization Specialist, Roger Clay, the Insight Center for Community Economic Development President, Barbara Ehrenreich, author and NY Times columnist, and Princeton professor Cornel West. It is a rerun of a show first on Thursday, January 12, 2012.

Here are some ideas from this show. The poor in America now include people from the middle class, who have had good things in their lives that are now absent. The numbers show that there are 50 million americans in the country who are hungry, says Vicki Escarra, the Feeding America Group President and CEO.

The numbers of hungry people have doubled since the recession, she said, and it is a crisis right here. Before now, it was hidden more. She says we all know somebody who is struggling right now.

Tavis Smiley says that the younger you are, the greater the chance is that you are in poverty.

Vicki Escarra says 10-15 pages need to be filled out for a food stamp application, which is much longer than the form for getting a gun. Also, some programs do support families. Some people say we spend too much on food stamps for poor people.

Food is at record highs, and how far does $135.00 a month really go? She lives in DC. Politicians don't know the families they are affecting. They do not know how hard these people are working to get out of poverty. When they cut people out, they don't know how this will affect people.

Vicki Escarra says there is enough food in this country to feed everybody and most of the world. We could work on the food system better. 17 million kids can't be educated because of hunger. We need to see children and families have enough to eat in the United States of America.

Suzie says that there are some tools that people in poverty can use to get themselves out. She says that people need to believe they can make it out of poverty. Others can help people lift themselves out of poverty. Hope is important, and believing in yourself is important.

One person can be the spark to help start real change. One thing she wants to change is FICO scores for people. Without a good score, people can't get good loan rates, can't find places to rent, and you can't get hired.

People who pay in cash or on debit don't count like people paying via credit. This is wrong, she says. The late fees and interest on credit cards is a credit trap that people need to get out of. America needs to be more of a cash society, she says. Suze Orman says there is "serious money" in credit cards and prepaid cards that "charge exorbitant fees". Her goal is to have FICO scores for people who have debit cards in two years.

She also talks about student debt. Private student loan debts are way higher than Stafford loans, for instance. These can go to 19 percent. The loans can't be discharged via bankruptcy. Banks like it when you don't pay your debt back. An expensive education doesn't guarantee a job either.

She says we need to have documents in place to protect you tomorrow. If you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of your children. We pass a silent message of "less" to our children if we do not educate ourselves and them. Don't set yourself up to be a victim to a system that wants you to fail.

Suze Orman wants to help people stay out of poverty, get involved with the money you have today, and learn how to make more from less, and take your hard-earned money and give it to others, like the banks.

People need to know how to invest their money in retirement plans, and how to take care of yourself in the future. Medicare and Social Security or Pensions, 401K's, you will have to work until you are 75 or 80 just to retire possibly. People need to be powerful over their own money and then they can help others.

Another issue is the environment - because poor people are winding up in the worst locations. Majora Carter says we can deal with the way the environment is changing to support energy conservation and creating green jobs for all people, including the poor.

What can we do right now with our capitalist system? How do we make poor people less poor? How can we help our leaders have vision? She says that there needs to be jobs for the undereducated too.

Barbara Ehrenreich says that everyone must be a leader. She says that we have discovered "the power of solidarity" in the last few months. Her book is "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America." We need to "have the strength of we" and come together as leaders.

She says that our system of capitalism is destroying itself. Our economy is now based on the 1%. How can this system survive?

She agrees that there is a class war. One of the targets was the unions. They have been terribly weakened. But we still have to take a lesson from them about solidarity. They can still take on that 1 percent.

When you are poor, you can be poor and proud. Say "we don't want their stuff!"

The speakers on this show mention that about half of the country (U.S.) is living in poverty. Wow. This is a HUGE number. They discuss how to lift people out of poverty. Tavis Smiley says most of the people living in poverty and going through the most hell are African-Americans. He wonders why most black people are being silent. Why is this?

Roger Clay answers that he had unrealistic expectations of President Obama. He does believe that President Obama has done some great things, and he has high expectations for him, but has been somewhat disappointed with his leadership on the poverty issue and the unemployment rate.

He believes with pressure on him, he may improve President Obama's leadership on this issue. He believes that Barack Obama is definitely the better choice over the Republican candidates for President though. Tavis Smiley says he needs to make poverty a priority.

He says we don't want to go back to the past. It was never good for him and many others. We do need to learn from it, but use new tools. He thinks we need to think bigger. Hope can be delusional. Most Americans used to think that they would be rich, so they wanted to protect the rich. Now this is changing. The system itself need to change. This can happen in the next 10-15 years.

In the short term, we need good jobs with benefits. But we need to change the system too. We can't leave people with no jobs or real help.

We need to spread the wealth of this country throughout all its people. There are things we all own, such as oil in Alaska. They distributed $3,000 per person to the citizens there. Our natural resources could belong to everyone. Patents could be paid for by giving ownership to everyone and this could get rid of food stamps and other safety net programs.

Cornel West says that banks are making money but not producing anything. It is too speculative globally. We must tell people the painful truth about our system.  It has changed in the last 30 years. Trade unions are being pushed against the wall. We can keep our heads high in the midst of darkness, but it is difficult.

Read more about this great show on my Friend Facebook page in my Notes.

Michael Moore remembers what a great experience it was to vote for President Obama, He even cried. It was really emotional. The past 8 years had been so painful. Then other countries turned against us because we invaded other countries. He says Barack Obama and his wife both have a good heart. So he is not despairing, but he is not happy with everything going on since the election.

Tax the rich, end the wars, take the money out of politics, corporations are not people, constitutional amendments,  how many gated communities can you build? Because you made so many people poor or nearly poor. How much more will you make them suffer? Someday they will not take it any more. You will wish you dealt with it now, when there is peace and not violence. Do it! Trust me.. it's coming!

He thinks our Democracy is being controlled by the 1 percent that rule this country. One or two threads are left - one is one person, one vote. But there is a lack of choice on who to vote for. Both people are feeding at the same corporate trough.

We need to remove money from government, go to paper ballots, remove the electoral college, move election day to the weekend, and make it EASIER to vote. The majority want regulation on Wall Street, and somebody arrested for these crimes.

We need to have politicians promise not to take money from the banks or Wall Street. They need your vote, or they can't win. Don't punk people who have less. the President should say he won't take one dime from Wall Street, and he'd get a lot more support.

Credit card debt and student debt have been fighting each other for #1.

Here is the deal, he said, ...The Republicans have not run anybody who is going to beat you. So... I think there's a pretty good chance you are going to win this election. Don't lose another year. You have the opportunity to be the Roosevelt of the 21st Century. You can bring this country to the moral place it should be. You can help create the American Dream for every person Suzie is talking about... (there is more! I can't wait to hear this again.)

Michael Moore says that money in government is causing so many problems. Everyone is serving Wall Street. The Occupy Wall Street movement is fighting this. He is talking about Capitalism as defined in the 21st century. We need more say, it needs to be a Democratic system. The way it is right now is evil and it needs to change. Right now our system is unjust, unfair, and not Democratic.

21% of Republicans believe that Barack Obama is the Antichrist. What is up with that? They are pretty crazy. Let's work on the ones that aren't. If people have cable, they can watch this. We need to get behind jobs that pay a decent wage. How can we create these jobs? 2 trillion dollars are in bank accounts of corporations.

The 99 percent need to have 4 or 5 parties to represent them, Michael Moore says.

They used to create more jobs, but now they just put it in the company bank account as a rainy day fund. They think another crash could happen, and they want to be protected. Congress can force then to release the money for jobs. We need a Roosevelt-style jobs program right now.

This is a Tavis Smiley Forum, called "Remaking America: From Poverty to Prosperity". He is a host on PBS.

C-Span.org has a copy of this forum on this page. What a great show. I plan to try to listen to this via my computer and a set of earphones.

There is so much said here that I did not know. The group agrees that leadership is needed to help our fellow Americans right now. Tavis Smiley thinks that many people are still not caring about the poor people in our country.

Cornel West believes that poverty and hunger is a national security problem, and we need elected leaders who "understand the tears." He thinks that eventually if this keeps on, riots may happen and this country needs to take action.

He is against the injustice of poverty affecting the young people in our country. If we want the eradication of poverty, we have to target the young people from birth to 5 years old. We need a renaissance of compassion and a revolution.

We take action on wars and saving banks, but myopic leadership can lead to a catastrophe. The Black prophetic tradition is weak and feeble right now. More people need to choose to be a part of it, no matter what your race is.

Righteous indignation and anger can channel through love. Get made with love and courage and be willing to die for something bigger than you.

We all need to talk justice, and do the right thing. It's not about politics and power, it's about people and caring about other people. We take action, Cornel West says, or we go under as a nation. Democracy is almost gone.

We need a sense of history to help change this system. The system is all about people up for sale.

The system itself was broken in the past... and it is now. We have to keep our focus on the system, and people of courage and vision must organize and mobilize. It's not about one person or one President, it's about fundamental transformation from oligarchs to everyday people.

What are you willing to do? What will be the cost? We don't want to lose our democracy. Dick Gregory, most of his friends are dead. This is a new form of slavery. Oligarchy needs to be challenged. People are afraid to stand up and make a choice. Most people would rather sell out than die, Cornell believes.

He thinks that the resiliency of poor people is very strong. There needs to be a wave of young people like some ancestors were. They are indoctrinated into overnight success... and this does not help. There is a shift in young people that could make them sell out to superficial status. Quick success is not as worthy as working towards something important.

Tavis Smiley says things are getting worse, even though money has been spent.

Barbara Ehrenreich says that corporate policies and wages and the bad safety net system is rigged. If you spiral down, you will spiral faster. There is no ladder going up, there is a greased shute going down. Employers are checking credit scores - what is that about?

And they don't want to hire people who need jobs. What?? Debts mount, along with the possibility of legal trouble, she says. When you apply for food stamps, your information is in the system like a criminal's is. Is there a war on the poor?

We can be Poverty Abolitionists, Tavis Smiley says. There are Poverty Deniers out there.  Our system is not democratic.

Optimism suggests that there is a reason to believe things will get better. Hope says faith is the substance of things hoped for, things not seen. We need to move from symbols to substance.

Wow. What a program. It was one of the best I have ever seen. I suggest you listen to it or watch it also. This program may be offered on PBS later on. I hope so!

PS I believe that Martin Luther King, Jr. would definitely be involved in this struggle to help our fellow Americans.

The Willow Tree, posterized and photoshopped

I already put this picture on Facebook, but I wanted to share it here.

It is SO fun to play with Photoshop.

The closest tree here is the Willow Tree, which I named this blog for.

I added the orbs to make the photo look more interesting.

I love the sunsets around here for their beautiful color.

When I get another camera, I will be able to do even more.

Of course, when I learn what the different settings do on the camera I have now, it may change my mind about needing another one for awhile.

There are two local camera clubs.

I may join one this year or next.

Today I spruced up the windows downtown at the Pots Place. It was fun!

Helen brought in some yarn holder pots, which people have been asking for, and the other potters have been hard at work too, making dog bone holders, snack pots, and big bowls.

Incidentally, The Pots Place in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky has a website and a Facebook page. Come visit!

Here is hoping things are going well for you. Leave a comment!

Tonight - Watch Once Upon a Time for a real treat

I admit it - I'm a total fan of this really fun TV show.

And I totally agree with a new article by Angela Rentmeester in this new Examiner online article:

"Once Upon a Time is easily one of the best new shows on television. Each episode gets so good that fans are left wanting more. This is one show that more people should start watching. If you love fairytale stories set in the modern day world then this is one show you have to start watching… now!"

There is a new episode tonight on ABC at 7 p.m. Central. If you have never watched this show before, now's the time to start. And if you are a fan, this is a reminder for you. :-)

Read the rest of the article here to find MORE reasons to watch this, along with Downton Abbey on PBS of course, too, afterwards. Luckily, the two shows are back to back, with Once Upon a Time starting the excellent TV action tonight.

Just saying! And scroll down to see the first trailer for the series. I think it will definitely get you interested.

Betsyanne

PS You can read the rest of the article here: Why More People Should Watch 'Once Upon a Time' - Chicago TV / Examiner.com.

Here is the intro trailer from Once Upon a Time, You can double-click it to go to the original at YouTube or make take it into full-screen mode if you wish.

From USA Today: De-clutter your life, a little at a time - 5 great tips

I ran across a terrific article today from USA today.

It is called "It's 'Time' to declutter, bit by bit" by Michelle Healy.

She asks questions of Tara Kuczykoski and Mandi Ehman, both moms and bloggers too.

Here are 5 great tips from the article I liked a lot:

#1: Know when to stock up on different things. They mention when to buy frozen food and chest freezers (March) and the best time to buy ice cream (June, July, or August).

#2. Saving time can be a higher priority than just saving money sometimes.

#3. Use a timer for de-cluttering and start at small timed increments. (This is also a mainstay method for people who use FlyLady too).

#4. It IS possible to find coupons for healthy foods. One of the bloggers has a database at DealSeekingMom.com that can help).

#5. A daily cleanup schedule should include sorting the mail, doing dishes, putting away toys, keeping up with laundry, wiping counters, and sweeping or vacuuming the kitchen floor.

There are other great hints here too. I think you will love this article too. Here is that link:

How often should I update my blogs?

Today I am publishing to some of my blogs.  <Again - after a day or two...>

Cool pens original by Keith Williamson on Flickr.

I have only been publishing maybe once or twice a week before, and sometimes less often.

But it will be good practice, and I think more interesting to write more than I used to last year. I think publishing every day would be great - but I don't have that much time when I am very busy. So I will publish every other day when that happens.

How often do you update your blogs? I have heard great advice from Bloggeries, a popular web directory and forum, about how much posting is necessary. By all means, some people say, post every day. Others say to post at least twice a week.

Most bloggers agree that posting once a month is not enough. People simply get bored of never hearing anything from a blog and will ignore them after a while. I personally erase a blog from my blogrolls if they have not posted for two months or more.

And I want to get serious about my blogs this year. I want to improve how they look, and don't be surprised if I move some to websites. My readers will still be able to read each blog; they will just be on another page.

New Years' Resolutions - do you have some?

This photo is by Creativity103 on Flickr.

2012. Time for New Years' Resolutions.

Some people are not making any this year. Those people do not include me.

I have some of the same resolutions from last year. They include finishing my ebooks, updating my blogs and sites, and getting more involved in other projects too.

For me, its' also a time to wish the bad times of last year a good riddance and to renew my hope for needed changes this year.

I also plan to have a Betsyanne Newsletter for this year. I will have tips, ideas, and lots more in it. Just send me your email and I will add you. Here is that form:

Do you have a special New Year's Resolution you want to share? Just put it at the end here as a comment.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May this year bring you much happiness, health, and dreams come true.

Christmas with our Furbaby, Boss Kitty Quotes

We have a cat named Bossie.

That name is short for Boss Kittie. Because she's the boss. And of course, she was included in our festivities yesterday.

She got a package of small crispy-sounding mice with little rattles inside. She liked the first one I threw down after a time. Her favorite activity yesterday was the same activity she likes most days - - watching the people do things.

We do love our Furbaby. She is funny, smart, and loveable - an older tuxedo cat. She came to us at the most perfect time.

Here is a photo of her spoiled self:

Here are some Boss Kitty Quotes:

"Don't let things bother you. Live for today."

"For some reason, my humans don't want me near the door."

"Have a problem? Take a nap."

"One time I brought a mouse to my humans. They didn't notice for a whole day."

"I wonder where I will hide today."

"I wish my humans would give me a treat so I can smell it. Not that I would actually eat it, I prefer hard cat food."

It's fun to see what they will try to get me to eat next."

"Those dogs who keep barking want to get off their chains and go for a nice walk."

"I like to let my humans I am around and like attention. Laying down in a high traffic area helps."

"These crunchy mice are great to get for a present, but I prefer the real ones."

"I love it when my humans pick me up and let me see the top shelves. There might be a cricket there."

As some other pet owners say about their other loved ones, "She's a mess."

I hope everyone is having a great holiday break. XOXOXO

Want to make money online? Here are some tips and mentors to help.

Do you want to be successful online?

There are many ways to go about it. With patience, you can increase your web presence and help other people at the same time.

Of course, there are many people online who will help you become successful. I have discovered several that I really like. Many of these have free resources to help people who can't afford the classes too.

Here are some I can personally recommend:

Stephen Weber - Stephen has been online helping others with their online businesses for years. He is the author of The Home Based Bookstore. He has Selling Books tips here, and has another blog on the site called Plug your Blog.

His latest book is Barcode Booty on Amazon. Other popular books of his are Ebay 101 and Plug Your Book.

AnnaLaura Brown is another really neat person with plenty to share on her website. She also has a Facebook page. I just saw another Facebook page that is called Health and Wealth with AnnaLaura that is here. AnnaLaura sells health products and has courses on how to do what she does for a living.

Susanne Arant Wells is an Amazon Consultant. She also has a Facebook page here.

She is also listed at LinkedIn here. Here are some of her other sites:
Robin Rice is an author, and wrote Be Who You Are. She helps inspire people on their money-making journey and has a website too. I love her Facebook postings. You can learn more about her on The Awesome Women Hub on Facebook too, where she is the founder.

Lynn Terry - I have just recently discovered Lynn. She started a great (and fun!) video blog at Click Newz and helps other people learn how to do internet marketing, affiliate sales and blog. She is on Facebook here. I love the professional look of her video blog and how her sites and blog keep improving.

Many of these people have free ebooks and some have free mini-seminars for you to see just what niche and online business you prefer before signing up for a class. And you don't have to sign up for the classes either; just if you want to.

Free ways of learning from these mentors include signing up for every free email newsletter these mentors have. You can learn a lot that way. Also look to see free offers, seminars, and videos you can watch for free.

Researching things like keyword research and best practices can also be done on the internet for free.

Opportunities
There are many opportunities today to set up your own business and make extra money. Ebay is still a viable option, along with Amazon and other selling sites, which also allow you to sell ebooks for a profit.

With patience, you can build up your online business you choose to give your family some needed extra cash.

Are you ready to find out how to make money on the internet? Check out these information providers and coaches and let me know who you like best and why.

And good luck to you!

An awesome Thanksgiving Oreo Cookie Turkey

    A cute Thanksgiving Turkey Cookie
A large photo of the Thanksgiving Turkey Cookie.

As you can tell, I am (finally) getting my photos posted today, and it's been awhile. Really, this is part of my job, posting photos.

Why? People LIKE photos. They don't have to be perfect. A good photo brings people to see it. A bit of interesting color helps, and sometimes I have to crop them and bring the size down. But pictures are really fun to look at. I find myself liking a blog with photos. It's just too hard to try to read a blog without them sometimes, and with lots and lots of writing in it.

Here are more views of the Thanksgiving Turkey Cookie:

Anyway (back to the subject...) I found this AWESOME cookie as one of a pair at the recent Nashville Woman's Club Bazaar. (I have photos of this too on another posting). We also bought some wonderful bar cookies and a cake. But for pure originality, this cookie took the prize. We brought it over for my daughter's Thanksgiving dinner. I had to work quick, because the other matching turkey cookie was eaten up pretty quick.

I think you'll like this too. You can make one for next year if you want. As you can see, it is made from the ever-popular Oreo cookie, some extra white filling (as glue and decoration), some candy corn, and what looks to be a Reece's peanut butter cup. It is neat! And almost no cooking is involved. This is the first time I have seen this done.

PS Here is hoping you are having a GREAT week. :-) XOXOXOXOX I love my readers!!!

PPS I used my Corel Draw 11 program to put these together. If I knew my Photoshop program better, I could have done it there in the same time. Corel is so fast, I use it instead.

PPSS Here is that link to the Woman's Club of Nashville Bazaar again if you have not seen it yet. We had such a good time there.

Find Christmas and Holiday presents at many auction sites! Betsy's Big List of Auction, Buying and Selling Sites 2

Betsyanne's big list of Auction, Buying and Selling Sites 2

I first started listing auction sites a few years back. I collected some that sounded good, but I have some favorites that have been around awhile I trust the most.

Are you an internet buyer? A seller? I have been both, and definitely have my preferences on sites.

It is the time to buy last-minute presents... and you can still find some things MUCH cheaper on an online site. You can find Christmas presents, accessories, things for yourself, and unique gifts sometime for a very hefty discount. Many have used items you can buy or give as gifts too.

LIST 2 - Sites I know or have heard about.
Important: a word to the wise: you need to personally check out these sites and sellers. I am sure some are better than others.

And as far as the sellers go, you need to check their recommendations and how long they have been selling too. Any seller or buyer (like any person) can be trustworthy or not. I like to think that most people are pretty honest.

If you are a seller, these sites below may be the next option for you if you want to expand your store to other sites.

    These are Biggie Sites
It used to be that Ebay was the ONLY site out there to buy or sell from. But today many people are starting new auctions sites, trying to duplicate Ebay's success.

True, you will get more hits to your queries on stores or bigger sellers when you use Ebay today, but there are still great deals to be had there. Plus, you can still find things you want using the "search" button. I think it's a BUYER's MARKET right now, but I have still sold things now and then this year.

I will list the Biggie Sites here that have been around awhile and that I like the design of or how they work. Some I have not used. If you use one of the sites that is not as well-known, let me know how you like it as a comment below.

Amazon - The Amazon site has much more for sale than it used to have. I love to find used books here. I have a Seller's Account there too, and may put more books on there later. Here is that link. You can join for free, and can make Amazon Book Suggestions mini-sites to link to if you wish. I have tried this, but haven't advertised the pages much.

BlueJay - This site is free to use. I like the very nice, low-key design. I have tried this one, and it was easy to list and had a nice store look. I wished I could figure out how to add more pictures, though. You can post your items here free for 180 days at a time. I was a member here for awhile, but I didn't get as much traffic as I did on Ebay.

Craigslist - here I must say Buyer Beware.  But this site is definitely fun. And you can find deals here. With the local pickup option, always take the usual safety steps. Craigslist is even more popular now than ever. Register, find your local Craigslist, read the rules, and go to town.

Ebay - this site is still so fun. Try searching here for things that you need and definitely still save some money. I still have fun here. One of the big plusses of shopping here is that you can save certain auctions into your Watch List and then choose the best one you find later.

Ebid - this site is definitely worth another look. I like the professional design it has. Make sure to go to the correct location. The correct address for this is: http://www.ebid.net/.

ECrater - This site is also know as The Moon. Some Ebay sellers have switched here.

Epier - this site is also becoming larger. They have store options for sellers and the site helps you make your own page. It's worth a visit.

Etsy - this wonderful site has great handmade items and more for sale. AND you can open your own shop here for free. If you have not been here yet, you need to check it out. See the newest designs across the country and get ideas for your own crafts too.

Goodwill Auctions - Goodwill stores sometimes take their most vintage, antique, or valuable items and put them on the Auction site now. I know of one person who got a good deal here. Expect to pay more because they often know what they are selling here. I went to check this one out a while back, and found some things I liked. They knew what they had (too bad) so the prices were good, fair, but not a steal.

Half.com - This is a subsidiary of Ebay. They almost closed it a year or more ago, but got a lot of complaints about it, so they kept it. You can find (and sell) book deals here and lots more. Sometimes you find a bigger discount.

Main Street Mall - this is a private online seller site. You can get a store here. The owner of the site is a long-time internet seller who also gives free advice to people making web pages. I like him! If you can afford to pay a free per month, Main Street Mall is a nice option. They also run Our Hutch, another online store site based in Kansas.

Online Auction - I like the fact that the Online Auction site is a Rotary Member and a Better Business Bureau site.

Ruby Lane - I love this upscale selling site. You can find jewelry, collectibles, books, furniture, and all kinds of retro and antique things in this virtual Antique and Selling Mall online It's fun to browse through and "window shop" the listings.

Sotheby's - A premier art auction site. Look here for high-ticket items, such as old masters, new masters, antiques, and lots more.

Ubid - this is another popular online selling site that features auctions too

WeBidz - another Ebay alternative auction site that cross-lists on Froogle.

The Woman's Club of Nashville Holiday Bazaar and Tour

Having fun, getting a tour, and buying gifts...

What a fun event this was yesterday.

Not only did the women of the Woman's Club of Nashville have gorgeous clothes, art, and jewelry here for sale, there were pies, cakes, cookies, and more. Some baked goods even had recipes attached.

We also got a tour of the first floor, with stories of the history of the building too. It was really neat!

I hope they do this next year. I will bring more money with me for sure, because I saw some shiny necklaces and shirts I liked.

I have picked several of my favorite photos to put here today.

There was so much to see. I even missed a room!

There was jewelry and also Christmas decorations.

Thanks for the fun visit, Woman's Club of Nashville!

The Womans' Club of Nashville has luncheons here, and I found out today that they also have weddings here sometimes. It is a great venue. Everyone was very friendly too.

Fun photos from a car window...

    Window pictures

Sometimes I get my window pictures to work. These are from the highway on the way back from Nashville.

There are many old farmhouses, neat trees leaves still sticking up from them, plus evergreen trees and sometimes birds. Sometimes I think it would be fun to go inside the tree areas on the farms to see what is inside.

Usually I get a couple of photos to turn out,  and I'm amazed at how neat they can look, even slightly blurred.

It's fun to use Photoshop to make the photos more interesting too.

It would be fun to make a collage out of them.

Railroad crossing. Turkeys sometimes to left.

Some semi-recent Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery Photos

Fall Decor - - and Waiting for Holiday Window Decoration.

    Hi, all!

I just published these on Facebook, but as some of my readers are not connected there, I am also putting a few of them here.

These are photos from the Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery. We made a new brochure lately too, so I will post a link to it soon too.

We decided to decorate for Christmas/Yule/Hannukah/Winter holidays after Thanksgiving. Last year we painted the windows. It was fun. Now, where did I put the washable paint?

We have a tree now too and plan to put ornaments and more on it. I may hang some Fairy Doors on it too.  I have some mini-fairy-doors that just need glaze or stain and one more firing and they will be ready to hang.

Anyway, here are some recent photos. They have orange mini-lights in the window and show some more fun pots on sale right now. You can see some ornaments, a face jug, some mugs, vases, a Round Tuit pot, a tile that has an inlaid design on it, a longboat, some candle holders, a small jug, a liquid soap or lotion holder, a small face, a moon, some heart nesting bowls, a platter on a stand, twot Fairy Doors, two mounted mini-torsos, cups, a jar, and some bowls.

We have more inside. Come visit if you are in the area. You can also sign up for our newsletter below too.

    Open 11-3, Tuesday-Saturday. Some visit!

That's it for now. Have a great day!

Hot Diggity Dogs in Nashville, Tennessee

     Hot Diggity Dogs!

This was a fun stop. We both liked this cute Hot Diggity Dogs restaurant. The people there were very friendly, and the hot dog was great. It was a very nice break in the day.

I hope we will be back here at Hot Diggity Dogs again.  There are many choices of different kinds of hot dogs here. Here are a few of my favorite pictures I took while we visited here.

    This was a fun place.

Here are more pictures of Hot Diggity Dogs on Facebook.

Thanks, Hot Diggity Dogs, for the delicious lunch! We had fun here.

Here is the official Hot Diggity Dogs website. You can check out their menu items and they have a map here too.

Leave a comment! Have you been to Hot Diggity Dogs yet?
