Happy Chinese New Year!

Hi everyone.

Did you eat Chinese food today?

If you did, chances are you found out that today was Chinese New Year. It is the most important social and economic holiday in China. (I didn't know this until today!)

The Chinese New Year 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. I saw a sign somewhere last week that said the Dragon was a Water Dragon. So are there different kinds? What kind if the official Dragon of the Chinese New Year? According to the article at About.com, the Dragon was a terrible monster who preyed on villagers.

I did a little more researching and found out that on the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, (historically) there is a Lantern Festival. I would love to see that. I didn't find out about which kind of dragon it is this year, (yet!) but I hope to find out soon. When people just celebrate the first day of the Chinese New Year, it also can be called the Spring Festival.

At the Chinese restaurant I had lunch at today, they were getting ready for a wonderful feast that evening. They were going to have a multi-course meal for their lucky customers that evening. The restaurant was Chinatown in Green Hills. What a fun restaurant. It makes me feel like such a VIP to eat there.

Anyway, here is hoping the Year of the Dragon is a very auspicious year.

Sincerely,

Betsyanne
