Crossing my fingers...
Last time my area had an ice storm, the willow tree in my yard lost a LOT of branches.
It still is OK, and hopefully will weather this storm too.
The new Hot Dog place in town
There is a new hot dog place in town. It is in a small building on 31-W (1427) that used to be a chicken place. They have tables and booths too.
It is called Big Al's Chicago Style. It has Chicago Style hot dogs, PLUS also Polish Sausage, and Italian Sausage and hand cut style French Fries.
We like it.
Signing up for Obamacare
I go online again today and sign up for a Health Care Plan hopefully. I think it's good that Kentucky has a website that helps us do that. It is Kynect: http://kyenroll.ky.gov/.
I hope you are having a great week, and a terrific holiday too.

Walking in the Neighborhood - some photos and thoughts
Today was a perfect day for a walk.
It was not too cold at all. I hope to do a lot more of it in the future (walking, that is!)
What I noticed today was that nobody was outside. Nobody! At least where I was.
I could hear a lot of birds though. It was a very peaceful walk.
That's all for now. Later!

Democratic Headquarters, Bowling Green, Kentucky
These photos are from a couple of weeks ago.
But we were pleased to see the Democratic Party Headquarters was up and running when we visited. It is located in the Hobby Lobby parking lot on Scottsville Road.
The back room has lots of space, and they have signs and bumper stickers to give out too, plus lots of information.
Here are just a few photos I took there:
I'm sure there is lots more set up there today. It's definitely worth a visit.

Getting ready for another Gallery Hop - and thoughts about the weekend 2012
Events this Weekend - - it's a busy one!
I just made another Pots Place Newsletter and sent it out.
Here is that link:
The Pots Place Newsletter #5.
If you live in the area, (Bowling Green, Kentucky) you can join this list here to get the newsletter:
Tomorrow is another Gallery Hop in Bowling Green Kentucky. I like these! I don't remember having one to attend when I was growing up, and I like this idea. Here is a picture of another Gallery Hop last year (below). I used these on my newsletter too.
Venues can show other artist's work, and all Galleries get to be in it (they join it for a fee).
I also like the World's Greatest Studio Tour too, but it's just once a year. The Gallery Hop has five different Hop evenings.
The Highland Games are this weekend too, in Glasgow, Kentucky at Barren River State Park. I hope to be able to go there some day. It looks like so much fun. They have games, food, concerts, and a lot more.
And here are some more websites to explore:

A fun find at a thrift store today - a Pushins keychain!
I found the neatest keychain today.
I bought a "grab bag" because I could see see-through plastic playing cards in it. I received a small change purse (just like one I use, only newer), a fake flower lei, some key holders, some other miscellany, AND something totally cool - a retro Pushins keychain.
Pushins was a popular department store in Bowling Green. I tried looking up some photos of it online, but could not find any. Maybe later.
It is two-sided, and has a Higgins Slacks ad on the back. How fun is that!
Here are photos from my find:
I am so excited about my find. I didn't even see it in the bag when I bought it!
So fun.
If you ever shopped at Pushins or know more about it, leave a comment.

Some semi-recent Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery Photos
Fall Decor - - and Waiting for Holiday Window Decoration.
Hi, all!
I just published these on Facebook, but as some of my readers are not connected there, I am also putting a few of them here.
These are photos from the Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery. We made a new brochure lately too, so I will post a link to it soon too.
We decided to decorate for Christmas/Yule/Hannukah/Winter holidays after Thanksgiving. Last year we painted the windows. It was fun. Now, where did I put the washable paint?
We have a tree now too and plan to put ornaments and more on it. I may hang some Fairy Doors on it too. I have some mini-fairy-doors that just need glaze or stain and one more firing and they will be ready to hang.
Anyway, here are some recent photos. They have orange mini-lights in the window and show some more fun pots on sale right now. You can see some ornaments, a face jug, some mugs, vases, a Round Tuit pot, a tile that has an inlaid design on it, a longboat, some candle holders, a small jug, a liquid soap or lotion holder, a small face, a moon, some heart nesting bowls, a platter on a stand, twot Fairy Doors, two mounted mini-torsos, cups, a jar, and some bowls.
We have more inside. Come visit if you are in the area. You can also sign up for our newsletter below too.

Inside table with pots, torsos, birdhouses, more. |
Open 11-3, Tuesday-Saturday. Some visit! |
That's it for now. Have a great day!

The Pots Place Silent Auction for Capitol Arts in Bowling Green Kentucky
Hi - this is a quick blurb about the Pots Place silent auction, other people/businesses who are having Silent Auctions, and the benefit for the Capitol Arts Alliance here in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Capitol Arts Alliance helps put on plays, concerts, art shows, and other community events at the Capitol Arts Center, located on the Square in downtown Bowling Green at 416 East Main Street. They recently announced a partnership with the new SKyPAC Center being built now in Bowling Green.
I got a neat poster today about the benefit from Theresa at the new Tea Squares - A Sweet Boutique store in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky. They are located at 906 State Street, on the Square downtown.
There are SO many businesses helping with this. That is so great. They are calling it Capital for the Capitol.
Here is that poster, below. Click on it to see a bigger version of it.
I am glad so many people are having silent auctions. If you are in the area, stop by the Pots Place and bid on our Pottery Basket. Thanks! And of course, bid on any of the other great auctions listed above on the poster.
This event ends on October 15th.
And be sure to give Theresa's store a visit in person and online at the Tea Squares Facebook page. She has done a lot of free work for this campaign for such a good cause. Thanks for all the work, Theresa!
Here is an article about TeaSquares: A Sweet Boutique from the BuyLocalBG site.
You can see the pottery that is in the Pots Place basket here on their Facebook page.
Just scroll down to see these photos.
And here is the Pots Place website. I still have one more artist to talk about on the site, some more photos to post, and some more pages to do. One of these days!

A beautiful Trumpet Vine with orange flowers
I have always loved these orange trumpet vines next door to the back entrance of the Pots Place.
The vines are in the alley across from Mariah's restaurant parking lot, draped beautifully on a building there.
They climb all over the other building next to the neighbor's building, and I really like how these vines look.
Here are a couple photos I took of them yesterday.

Luxuriant tropical-looking vines. |
So pretty! |
There are also some of these in front of the back entrance to the Pots Place. They have been used as a bush there. I don't see the flowers as often, because they get trimmed so much. They grow really fast (I can attest to that!) - and they are pretty cut an in a vase too. I have not cut the neighbor's vines, but I have trimmed the Pots Place ones.
Anyway, these are so pretty, I thought I would share them today. I think having the same plants could point to a relationship between store owners long ago. Maybe there is a story behind them. Who knows? These vines and flowers are so jungle-like...
And here is a photo I found called "Kauai: Orange Trumpet Vine" on Flickr.
