A stop at Paradise Point, near Barren River Lake today...

I've been wanting to go here ever since I read an article about it.

Paradise Point is open on the weekends, and has the NEATEST stuff for sale in their shop, besides their famous hot dogs, of course. What reminded me to go was an ad in Fair Magazine, which comes with our Daily News.

Here is that ad:

It shows their dog, who was laying on the floor right at the entrance. He was very popular with the kids.

Their Facebook page is here:  Paradise Point Marketplace.

And here is their official website: Paradise Point.

And they have a Twitter page here: Paradise Point's Twitter Feed.

I took a few photos... <added: my apologies for their extra-brightness. I'm working on getting a new camera, it may be awhile though.>

The Awesome Possum - cool bikes, a bike table inside, more.

Don't Postpone Joy. Noticed the legs later.

Rickey at Paradise Point.

An old truck... other vehicles were for sale here too.

And, from my last posting: Kentucky weather - it's plan hot. Will it be a scorcher later (this Fall) too?

I hope it cools down a little... I would like to come back again and hike around a bit outside.

Be looking for some Wisconsin travel photos here soon too. :-)

My News for the Snowpocalypse... Kentucky style. And more. Feb 17 2015

Well, we got snowed upon.

I posted some photos on Facebook. Here are a couple of them.
This car is no longer here. Rickey has it at his job. He barely made it out.

Snowy trees... the farm across the way.

It snowed, and snowed, and then snowed some more. I hear the major roads are passable, but this road is not. Rickey barely missed some other cars yesterday. Luckily, with his job, he can stay there, which is a good thing. A heavy duty truck may stop by to stock him up with supplies and lunches today. We'll see.

I saw a cloud of smoke as the wheels spun when he was caught in a little dip by the mailbox. Ack.

More news
I got some other postings done, AND rediscovered an old notebook, which I used to tape articles in and save websites 10-15 years or MORE ago. I decided to blog about it at my From the Garden Spot Blog. I call this first posting "Discoveries from the Secret (and forgotten) Notebook - Part One." There are some fun sites and thoughts in here. AND some websites have just disappeared or morphed into something else.

ZZ Top is on the way to BG for the Lost River Music Fest on March 28th at the BG Ballpark. Just saying. This should be pretty popular.

Selecting Books from my overhuge collection
I'm selecting books to sell from my humongous stash. It should not be a problem to come up with another box of these and price them today.

More beheadings....
This time of Egyptian Coptic Christians. I can't wrap my mind around it, it is just so hideous and awful. And now (of course) this group has the Egyptians very angry.

Record Lows tonight?
It may get really cold tonight and tomorrow. Already the cupboards are open, and the water dripping as a precaution. Someone on Facebook said that their chimney was on fire yesterday! But they ( am assuming the Fire Department) caught it before it fired the whole house up. Scary stuff. And someone else's car was snowed into a snowbank and someone helped her shovel out and get on the road. There are also photos of wrecks in Nashville. It MIGHT start to thaw out on Friday.

And here is something I just saw online: It's an article about travel.... if you can, travel EARLY with your loved one. Don't just say "We'll do that later..." Someone I care about told me to do this too. I'm working on it...

Here is that article: Here's How to Avoid One of the Most Common Life Regrets.

FYI: Some of my other websites and blogs are: The Nontraditional Student Blog and website, GS Betsy's E-blast (for Kentuckiana Area 17 and Beyond), From the Garden Spot (another Betsyanne blog), The Find Scholarships and Grants blog, and The Teacher Tree (I will be working more on this one later this year).

My refrigerator was Magically Repaired. Good job, Magically Repaired repair service!

Storm clouds at Mays Lick by Chris Breeze on Flickr

It's raining tonight after an eventful day.

I thought after our very old refrigerator (23 years!) stopped working, that I'd need to buy another one.  But I got on Angie's List and found a great repair service. I liked their name too. It's true - - after thinking I'd need a NEW one, my old one was Magically Repaired instead. :-)

I thought I see if it was easily fixed, then decide.

They came the day after I called, and fixed a switch and now it works. The food's gone from inside to outside and then inside the refrigerator again.

I do appreciate our refrigerator so much, now that we didn't have it for awhile. Now the kitchen's cleaned up, plus the fridge and freezer cleaned too.

I learned a LOT about getting new refrigerators too. Although we have 3 or more stores here in town, they take 2+ days to be delivered. And smaller sized refrigerators are harder to get. So I'm doubly happy that we got to keep our smaller one that fits so well in our kitchen.

There are bottom freezer models now, of course drink dispensers (which I didn't need), french door ones, and super-tall models. I measured twice, then imagined how a larger one would look. Now I don't need to squish one in. Yay.

Happy sigh. I think I'll sleep pretty well tonight!

I am hoping the Willow Tree will be OK! Plus the new Hot Dog place in town, more.

Crossing my fingers...

Last time my area had an ice storm, the willow tree in my yard lost a LOT of branches.

It still is OK, and hopefully will weather this storm too.

The new Hot Dog place in town

There is a new hot dog place in town. It is in a small building on 31-W (1427)  that used to be a chicken place. They have tables and booths too.

It is called Big Al's Chicago Style. It has Chicago Style hot dogs, PLUS also Polish Sausage, and Italian  Sausage and hand cut style French Fries.

We like it.

Signing up for Obamacare

I go online again today and sign up for a Health Care Plan hopefully.  I think it's good that Kentucky has a website that helps us do that. It is Kynect: http://kyenroll.ky.gov/.

I hope you are having a great week, and a terrific holiday too.

Edwin and Linda got married! I took some photos too.

I went to this wedding on Sunday, November 18, 2013, and I'm glad I did.

They had it at Chaney's Dairy Barn, a famous venue for ice cream and dairy tours.

They also had a veil over a cow statue there. And what a nice band they had. I could not hear all of the wedding, but I did hear some of the beautiful vows and the fun music and got to take a few pictures too.

I think they had a LOT more people than they thought they would. Just saying. It was standing room only. I tried to give up my seat, but somebody else gave the person a seat in the FRONT, which was the area for VIP's.

Here are some of the photos (I'll post the rest on Facebook and post a link after that here.)

Our view of the wedding. Note the pillar and people. (haha)

Edwin offers Linda some of Chaney's famous Ice Cream.

Linda and Romanza talk.

Here is that cow I told you about...

And here is Edwin and Linda's Engagement Announcement in the Daily News.

We got a FREE cup of delicious ice cream at the wedding. What a great idea.

Congratulations, and many happy returns, Linda and Edwin.

Well that's it for now. Off I go to post on Facebook, then post a link here.

Do you get little people at your house at Halloween?

Halloween Cuties. Via D'Arcy Norman on Wikimedia Commons.

We usually don't. Our house is on a busy street, and there aren't many kids around either.

But we are prepared just in case, with some goodies.

True, we have "Trunk" events in the area, and also Halloween events where kids can go elsewhere and get candy, but to me Halloween isn't Halloween without having that kind of scary element of going door to door.

I used to go with my daughter... and when I was a kid we got those good popcorn balls and homemade fudge sometimes. Good stuff.

This is an interesting time of year. Weather reports show a "scary" weather front coming in for Halloween. We'll see.

Have a SCARY but good time on Halloween, everyone.

Delafield Church and Hotel Inc. - a trip to Boatlanding Road

I finally got to see Hotel Inc. and its location the other day.

Here are some photos of the church in front of Hotel Inc., which is located at 1005 Boatlanding Road, and the side of Hotel Inc.

This church is directly in front of Hotel, Inc., which is around to the left and back as seen on this photo.

Here is what you will see as you walk towards their back entrance.

Hotel Inc. is a local Christian church group that helps people with a food pantry (Manna Mart) and other services. Right now, they need food because there is a lot of need for that in the community.

I saw some breadstuffs inside the door when we went. They still need canned goods and more kinds of food. Here are some items they have needed in the past: (from a BG Daily News article"carrots, peas, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and fruit, as well as stuffing mix and baking mix." They could also use canned goods of all kinds.

An April 2013 posting on their Facebook page said:

"Manna Mart has some empty shelves...cereal, juice, soup, fruit, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes. We can also accept fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat. Donations can be dropped off at 1005 Boatlanding Road. Office hours: Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday - Friday 9-5. Thanks!"

Call the number below to find out what they need most.

The hours you can bring food and other items to them are (from the site):
"Checking in donated food or distributing food to clients (Tuesday 10:00 – 1:00, 4:00 – 5:00, Thursday 10:00 – 1:00 and Friday 10:00 – 1:00)"

Just call 782-1263 with any questions, and to help as a volunteer.

Here is their website:
Hotel Inc.

and here is their Facebook page too:
Hotel Inc. Facebook Page.

Beautiful lamps at Chuy's in Bowling Green, Kentucky

Rickey and I went to Chuy's Restaurant the other day.

I had a diet plate that was delicious.

Rickey had a stuffed avocado (he said it was great). I had a bite.

Chuy's is celebrating their One Year Anniversary.

What impressed me too (again) were their neat lamps.

When you look closely at them, they look to be made of paper and glass. The colors are bright and cheery.

I took some photos of these neat multicolor lovelies.

I took a few more and put them on my Facebook page, along with a copy of these.

Here is Chuy's Facebook page:

PS Be careful of the Green Chili sauce. It's great, but hot.

Week and Weekend Thoughts... Girl Scouts, My To-Do LIst, interesting postings, fun sites, events, etc. etc.

On to other things... right?
Jackson's Orchard has nice Snapdragons for sale.

It has been a fun weekend so far. I located some great tomato plants (Mr. Stripey!), peppers, and more at a local Farmer's Market.

My Things to Do list keeps growing, but exciting things keep happening too.

I found some great Girl Scout blogs and sites, located some good Care Package items, am helping to get a new Girl Scout volunteer group started,  am planning my garden, organizing, and finding many treasures.

My new online shop MIGHT be called Betsy's Treasures. Or maybe Betsyanne's treasures. I have way too many treasures of all kinds already, so I plan to share them with others.

I may keep a bare minimum, but not many. By treasures I mean little keepsakes, costume jewelry, books, magazines, and much more.

I will post here when I get my site and/or store ready.

And for you, my wonderful reader, here are some sites and articles I (and/or online friends) have recently discovered that you may also like.

An interesting B & B: Bashford Manor

It was very interesting staying at the Bashford Manor last weekend.

This B & B is in Louisville, Kentucky. It used to be on a horse farm. We stayed in the Jane Austen room, which had many books and a most unusual bathroom. The bath was a step-down bath and the bathroom, though small, had the prettiest floor and mirror.

I have a few pictures of the room, which was very picturesque. I especially will remember the white horses in the yard, and the many antiques and interesting details of the house. It is said that perhaps Abraham Lincoln visited here.

I think it must be very difficult to juggle many rooms and lots of guests with a Bed and Breakfast place. We talked about that.

I got to sing with some Girl Scout friends this weekend. That part was so fun too.

AND we shopped at Frank's, and went to a famous bookshop and some other shops. I'll post about that later on.

I have some more photos posted here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Snow photos from my house - it is so pretty today!

Oh, what a beautiful morning!

I had to bring the camera to the porch today. A great snowy dusting greeted me there.

I do love seeing snow sometimes. This year we haven't had a lot.

The snow is so pretty today.

To the left... with the willow tree hanging branches.

The snow is melting now, but it did stay awhile!

Today the temperature is rising, so it will be safe on the road now. But I'm glad I got to see a little bit of the white stuff today.

How many other people are thinking of Spring?

Spring Dreaming...

Yes, I know snow is still on the ground many places. Here in Bowling Green, Kentucky, it has been chilly. And we have had some winter rain.

But I am surely thinking of spring. I have gardening plans!

Here are two spring photos from Flickr that I like today.

Concave 2013 is Concave 34 in Bowling Green, Kentucky

 Wow - 34 Concaves already!

This is my first Concave posting for this year on my blogs.

I brought my swimsuit this year, so I got to go swimming and get in the hot tub today. It felt great. You can see the hot tub area right past the fence in this picture:

I have a few photos and more on Facebook and my From the Garden Spot blog too.

I saw lots of gamers there, some neat costumes and had some great food last night too. I've got a few pieces of art in the Art Show this time, so that is fun too.

The Art Auction is later tonight, and I always enjoy that.

This year, there are more Hucksters than ever. They each have rooms around the pool in the Atrium area. Books, jewelry, games, collectibles, art, and more is available. I look forward to looking at more things today.

Off to post on my other blog.

(Above) This semi-quiet area did not stay quiet a lot last night. I brought our noise machine and some earplugs though, just in case.

Here is a posting on my From the Garden Spot blog:

Driving home from Tennessee... some window photos

Photos of Tennessee and Kentucky out the car window...

Driving home from Nashville on Saturday, I had some fun shooting the Kentucky and Tennessee countryside out the window.

I find the beautiful Kentucky and Tennessee scenes in this area so relaxing and gorgeous. It just feels peaceful to me to gaze out on the scenes going by here.

That day, the clouds were luminous. I wish I could have gotten a 3D picture of those right by the sun.

Another beautiful fenceline row.

Luminous clouds.

Cows, field, and grasses.

One of many farms.

A lone cow.

You can see a fence if you look closely here.
Just beautiful. Wouldn't you love to go down each road you see?

Dusk, getting nearer to home.

Restful trees.

Do you also love to take pictures? There used to be two clubs you could join in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area.

I am hoping to join at least one this year or attend a function to learn more about photography.

The Old Rockfield School becomes a Dollar General

I can't believe how fast the new Dollar General is going up on Russellville Road!

It seemed like just last week they were taking down the Old Rockfield School.

That school was also the home for an Antique Gallery once.

Here are some photos, from oldest to newest.
The Old Rockfield School side entrance.
