Do you get little people at your house at Halloween?

Halloween Cuties. Via D'Arcy Norman on Wikimedia Commons.

We usually don't. Our house is on a busy street, and there aren't many kids around either.

But we are prepared just in case, with some goodies.

True, we have "Trunk" events in the area, and also Halloween events where kids can go elsewhere and get candy, but to me Halloween isn't Halloween without having that kind of scary element of going door to door.

I used to go with my daughter... and when I was a kid we got those good popcorn balls and homemade fudge sometimes. Good stuff.

This is an interesting time of year. Weather reports show a "scary" weather front coming in for Halloween. We'll see.

Have a SCARY but good time on Halloween, everyone.

Delafield Church and Hotel Inc. - a trip to Boatlanding Road

I finally got to see Hotel Inc. and its location the other day.

Here are some photos of the church in front of Hotel Inc., which is located at 1005 Boatlanding Road, and the side of Hotel Inc.

This church is directly in front of Hotel, Inc., which is around to the left and back as seen on this photo.

Here is what you will see as you walk towards their back entrance.

Hotel Inc. is a local Christian church group that helps people with a food pantry (Manna Mart) and other services. Right now, they need food because there is a lot of need for that in the community.

I saw some breadstuffs inside the door when we went. They still need canned goods and more kinds of food. Here are some items they have needed in the past: (from a BG Daily News article"carrots, peas, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and fruit, as well as stuffing mix and baking mix." They could also use canned goods of all kinds.

An April 2013 posting on their Facebook page said:

"Manna Mart has some empty shelves...cereal, juice, soup, fruit, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes. We can also accept fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat. Donations can be dropped off at 1005 Boatlanding Road. Office hours: Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday - Friday 9-5. Thanks!"

Call the number below to find out what they need most.

The hours you can bring food and other items to them are (from the site):
"Checking in donated food or distributing food to clients (Tuesday 10:00 – 1:00, 4:00 – 5:00, Thursday 10:00 – 1:00 and Friday 10:00 – 1:00)"

Just call 782-1263 with any questions, and to help as a volunteer.

Here is their website:

and here is their Facebook page too:

Beautiful lamps at Chuy's in Bowling Green, Kentucky

Rickey and I went to Chuy's Restaurant the other day.

I had a diet plate that was delicious.

Rickey had a stuffed avocado (he said it was great). I had a bite.

Chuy's is celebrating their One Year Anniversary.

What impressed me too (again) were their neat lamps.

When you look closely at them, they look to be made of paper and glass. The colors are bright and cheery.

I took some photos of these neat multicolor lovelies.

I took a few more and put them on my Facebook page, along with a copy of these.

Here is Chuy's Facebook page:

PS Be careful of the Green Chili sauce. It's great, but hot.

Fluffy snow is so appealing... some photos.

Don't you just love snow?

Here in South Central Kentucky we got a nice, fluffy snowfall yesterday. It melted soon after it fell, but it was sure pretty.

This big building may still be for sale. I would buy it if I had the money. It's a fine old building. The Odd Fellows group used to meet there. There are lots of office spaces there too, plus the bottom part is rented.

The snow looks nice in front of here too. So far, Bowling Green has not had much of the white stuff. But I do like seeing it here sometimes. Of course, on the news, we saw other parts of the country with cars piled up, accidents, and vehicles trying to get out of snow drifts (the dark side of a snowfall!) too.

But isn't snow just delightful sometimes?

The snow looks especially good downtown. The park is so pretty. Plus I like the buildings in downtown Fountain Square Park here in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Especially the older ones. They do look especially good with some snow falling in front of them. :-)

Above, you can see Tea Squares is open (the building with the awning). They have soup, great sandwiches, and of course, little squares of cake you can have for dessert. Also, there is lots to look at in the store. Just get a little wooden table and check out the wall displays. You can buy gifts there too.
Teresa Shea, an owner, is often there - I got to meet her after she moved here from New Orleans. If you see her, say hi for me.

And two doors down to the left is Mr. Holland at his store, Holland House. His little (but cute!) store features lots of items for stamp and coin collectors. I saw some really neat old U.S. paper money last time I was there. I like the displays there.

Well, time to be off and check my other blogs.

Join me online - I'd love to see you there.

Jammin' at the Street Fair in Downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky

There's a band playing and lots of booths up...

I am down at the Pots Place right now for Second Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I will have some photos to post here later too.

I went to see Suzie and Holly's booth. They are to the right of the band, and are selling lots of different jewelry. Some is fine jewelry and some is costume jewelry that is SO cute. I got some for Christmas presents that I think people will really like. I was really happy about the prices too. The bracelets are only $5.00 and there are other things for as cheap as $3.00.

I haven't gone around to check out the other booths, but hopefully I can later on. Right now some carpenters are here to give a price on fixing the bathroom here downstairs. It DOES help to have a bathroom downstairs!

So hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I can hear the band right through the windows and door.

It's a perfect day for the Second Saturday Street Fair too. Many families are out and about and having fun. I see colorful balloons and people walking dogs around the Fountain Square park pathways too.

The handyman service (A Cout Above Handyman) just gave a quote on the bathroom here. Yay!

People are going around the square on a Horse and Carriage ride every so often. I love to watch the horses.

All in all, a good day.
