We have a cat named Bossie.
That name is short for Boss Kittie. Because she's the boss. And of course, she was included in our festivities yesterday.
She got a package of small crispy-sounding mice with little rattles inside. She liked the first one I threw down after a time. Her favorite activity yesterday was the same activity she likes most days - - watching the people do things.
We do love our Furbaby. She is funny, smart, and loveable - an older tuxedo cat. She came to us at the most perfect time.
Here is a photo of her spoiled self:
Here are some Boss Kitty Quotes:
"Don't let things bother you. Live for today."
"For some reason, my humans don't want me near the door."
"Have a problem? Take a nap."
"One time I brought a mouse to my humans. They didn't notice for a whole day."
"I wonder where I will hide today."
"I wish my humans would give me a treat so I can smell it. Not that I would actually eat it, I prefer hard cat food."
It's fun to see what they will try to get me to eat next."
"Those dogs who keep barking want to get off their chains and go for a nice walk."
"I like to let my humans I am around and like attention. Laying down in a high traffic area helps."
"These crunchy mice are great to get for a present, but I prefer the real ones."
"I love it when my humans pick me up and let me see the top shelves. There might be a cricket there."
As some other pet owners say about their other loved ones, "She's a mess."
I hope everyone is having a great holiday break. XOXOXO
Betsyanne

Want to make money online? Here are some tips and mentors to help.
Do you want to be successful online?
There are many ways to go about it. With patience, you can increase your web presence and help other people at the same time.
Of course, there are many people online who will help you become successful. I have discovered several that I really like. Many of these have free resources to help people who can't afford the classes too.
Here are some I can personally recommend:
Stephen Weber - Stephen has been online helping others with their online businesses for years. He is the author of The Home Based Bookstore. He has Selling Books tips here, and has another blog on the site called Plug your Blog.
His latest book is Barcode Booty on Amazon. Other popular books of his are Ebay 101 and Plug Your Book.
AnnaLaura Brown is another really neat person with plenty to share on her website. She also has a Facebook page. I just saw another Facebook page that is called Health and Wealth with AnnaLaura that is here. AnnaLaura sells health products and has courses on how to do what she does for a living.
Susanne Arant Wells is an Amazon Consultant. She also has a Facebook page here.
She is also listed at LinkedIn here. Here are some of her other sites:
Lynn Terry - I have just recently discovered Lynn. She started a great (and fun!) video blog at Click Newz and helps other people learn how to do internet marketing, affiliate sales and blog. She is on Facebook here. I love the professional look of her video blog and how her sites and blog keep improving.
Many of these people have free ebooks and some have free mini-seminars for you to see just what niche and online business you prefer before signing up for a class. And you don't have to sign up for the classes either; just if you want to.
Free ways of learning from these mentors include signing up for every free email newsletter these mentors have. You can learn a lot that way. Also look to see free offers, seminars, and videos you can watch for free.
Researching things like keyword research and best practices can also be done on the internet for free.
With patience, you can build up your online business you choose to give your family some needed extra cash.

Construction photos from Green Hills, Nashville, Tennessee November 2011
I took these photos of some interesting junk piles in a construction site near the Donut Den in Nashville, and across from LeQuire Gallery.
I could not resist. Luckily, Rickey just read in the car while I clicked away. I hope you like these too. They are a few from the whole set now on Flickr in 600x800 dpi.
You can see all the photos here at the Flickr set.
Thanks for coming by! You rock, readers!

An awesome Thanksgiving Oreo Cookie Turkey
As you can tell, I am (finally) getting my photos posted today, and it's been awhile. Really, this is part of my job, posting photos.
Why? People LIKE photos. They don't have to be perfect. A good photo brings people to see it. A bit of interesting color helps, and sometimes I have to crop them and bring the size down. But pictures are really fun to look at. I find myself liking a blog with photos. It's just too hard to try to read a blog without them sometimes, and with lots and lots of writing in it.
Here are more views of the Thanksgiving Turkey Cookie:
Anyway (back to the subject...) I found this AWESOME cookie as one of a pair at the recent Nashville Woman's Club Bazaar. (I have photos of this too on another posting). We also bought some wonderful bar cookies and a cake. But for pure originality, this cookie took the prize. We brought it over for my daughter's Thanksgiving dinner. I had to work quick, because the other matching turkey cookie was eaten up pretty quick.
I think you'll like this too. You can make one for next year if you want. As you can see, it is made from the ever-popular Oreo cookie, some extra white filling (as glue and decoration), some candy corn, and what looks to be a Reece's peanut butter cup. It is neat! And almost no cooking is involved. This is the first time I have seen this done.
Betsyanne
PS Here is hoping you are having a GREAT week. :-) XOXOXOXOX I love my readers!!!
PPS I used my Corel Draw 11 program to put these together. If I knew my Photoshop program better, I could have done it there in the same time. Corel is so fast, I use it instead.
PPSS Here is that link to the Woman's Club of Nashville Bazaar again if you have not seen it yet. We had such a good time there.

Find Christmas and Holiday presents at many auction sites! Betsy's Big List of Auction, Buying and Selling Sites 2
Betsyanne's big list of Auction, Buying and Selling Sites 2
I first started listing auction sites a few years back. I collected some that sounded good, but I have some favorites that have been around awhile I trust the most.
Are you an internet buyer? A seller? I have been both, and definitely have my preferences on sites.
It is the time to buy last-minute presents... and you can still find some things MUCH cheaper on an online site. You can find Christmas presents, accessories, things for yourself, and unique gifts sometime for a very hefty discount. Many have used items you can buy or give as gifts too.
LIST 2 - Sites I know or have heard about.
Important: a word to the wise: you need to personally check out these sites and sellers. I am sure some are better than others. And as far as the sellers go, you need to check their recommendations and how long they have been selling too. Any seller or buyer (like any person) can be trustworthy or not. I like to think that most people are pretty honest.
If you are a seller, these sites below may be the next option for you if you want to expand your store to other sites.
These are Biggie Sites
It used to be that Ebay was the ONLY site out there to buy or sell from. But today many people are starting new auctions sites, trying to duplicate Ebay's success.True, you will get more hits to your queries on stores or bigger sellers when you use Ebay today, but there are still great deals to be had there. Plus, you can still find things you want using the "search" button. I think it's a BUYER's MARKET right now, but I have still sold things now and then this year.
I will list the Biggie Sites here that have been around awhile and that I like the design of or how they work. Some I have not used. If you use one of the sites that is not as well-known, let me know how you like it as a comment below.
Amazon - The Amazon site has much more for sale than it used to have. I love to find used books here. I have a Seller's Account there too, and may put more books on there later. Here is that link. You can join for free, and can make Amazon Book Suggestions mini-sites to link to if you wish. I have tried this, but haven't advertised the pages much.
BlueJay - This site is free to use. I like the very nice, low-key design. I have tried this one, and it was easy to list and had a nice store look. I wished I could figure out how to add more pictures, though. You can post your items here free for 180 days at a time. I was a member here for awhile, but I didn't get as much traffic as I did on Ebay.
Craigslist - here I must say Buyer Beware. But this site is definitely fun. And you can find deals here. With the local pickup option, always take the usual safety steps. Craigslist is even more popular now than ever. Register, find your local Craigslist, read the rules, and go to town.
Ebay - this site is still so fun. Try searching here for things that you need and definitely still save some money. I still have fun here. One of the big plusses of shopping here is that you can save certain auctions into your Watch List and then choose the best one you find later.
Ebid - this site is definitely worth another look. I like the professional design it has. Make sure to go to the correct location. The correct address for this is: http://www.ebid.net/.
ECrater - This site is also know as The Moon. Some Ebay sellers have switched here.
Epier - this site is also becoming larger. They have store options for sellers and the site helps you make your own page. It's worth a visit.
Etsy - this wonderful site has great handmade items and more for sale. AND you can open your own shop here for free. If you have not been here yet, you need to check it out. See the newest designs across the country and get ideas for your own crafts too.
Goodwill Auctions - Goodwill stores sometimes take their most vintage, antique, or valuable items and put them on the Auction site now. I know of one person who got a good deal here. Expect to pay more because they often know what they are selling here. I went to check this one out a while back, and found some things I liked. They knew what they had (too bad) so the prices were good, fair, but not a steal.
Half.com - This is a subsidiary of Ebay. They almost closed it a year or more ago, but got a lot of complaints about it, so they kept it. You can find (and sell) book deals here and lots more. Sometimes you find a bigger discount.
Main Street Mall - this is a private online seller site. You can get a store here. The owner of the site is a long-time internet seller who also gives free advice to people making web pages. I like him! If you can afford to pay a free per month, Main Street Mall is a nice option. They also run Our Hutch, another online store site based in Kansas.
Online Auction - I like the fact that the Online Auction site is a Rotary Member and a Better Business Bureau site.
Ruby Lane - I love this upscale selling site. You can find jewelry, collectibles, books, furniture, and all kinds of retro and antique things in this virtual Antique and Selling Mall online It's fun to browse through and "window shop" the listings.
Sotheby's - A premier art auction site. Look here for high-ticket items, such as old masters, new masters, antiques, and lots more.
Ubid - this is another popular online selling site that features auctions too
WeBidz - another Ebay alternative auction site that cross-lists on Froogle.
Try the link below for more sites, shipping supplies, online directories, other online Auction and buying sites, and online help for sellers and buyers.

The Woman's Club of Nashville Holiday Bazaar and Tour
Having fun, getting a tour, and buying gifts...
What a fun event this was yesterday.
Not only did the women of the Woman's Club of Nashville have gorgeous clothes, art, and jewelry here for sale, there were pies, cakes, cookies, and more. Some baked goods even had recipes attached.
We also got a tour of the first floor, with stories of the history of the building too. It was really neat!
I hope they do this next year. I will bring more money with me for sure, because I saw some shiny necklaces and shirts I liked.
I have picked several of my favorite photos to put here today.
There was so much to see. I even missed a room! |
There was jewelry and also Christmas decorations. |
A Bowed Psalterie instrument played with a bow. |

Fun photos from a car window...
Window pictures
Sometimes I get my window pictures to work. These are from the highway on the way back from Nashville.
There are many old farmhouses, neat trees leaves still sticking up from them, plus evergreen trees and sometimes birds. Sometimes I think it would be fun to go inside the tree areas on the farms to see what is inside.
Usually I get a couple of photos to turn out, and I'm amazed at how neat they can look, even slightly blurred.
It's fun to use Photoshop to make the photos more interesting too.
It would be fun to make a collage out of them.
Railroad crossing. Turkeys sometimes to left. |

Some semi-recent Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery Photos
Fall Decor - - and Waiting for Holiday Window Decoration.
Hi, all!
I just published these on Facebook, but as some of my readers are not connected there, I am also putting a few of them here.
These are photos from the Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery. We made a new brochure lately too, so I will post a link to it soon too.
We decided to decorate for Christmas/Yule/Hannukah/Winter holidays after Thanksgiving. Last year we painted the windows. It was fun. Now, where did I put the washable paint?
We have a tree now too and plan to put ornaments and more on it. I may hang some Fairy Doors on it too. I have some mini-fairy-doors that just need glaze or stain and one more firing and they will be ready to hang.
Anyway, here are some recent photos. They have orange mini-lights in the window and show some more fun pots on sale right now. You can see some ornaments, a face jug, some mugs, vases, a Round Tuit pot, a tile that has an inlaid design on it, a longboat, some candle holders, a small jug, a liquid soap or lotion holder, a small face, a moon, some heart nesting bowls, a platter on a stand, twot Fairy Doors, two mounted mini-torsos, cups, a jar, and some bowls.
We have more inside. Come visit if you are in the area. You can also sign up for our newsletter below too.
Our outside Cart 3 |
Our Outside Cart 2 |
Inside table with pots, torsos, birdhouses, more. |
Open 11-3, Tuesday-Saturday. Some visit! |
That's it for now. Have a great day!

Hot Diggity Dogs in Nashville, Tennessee
Hot Diggity Dogs!
This was a fun stop. We both liked this cute Hot Diggity Dogs restaurant. The people there were very friendly, and the hot dog was great. It was a very nice break in the day.
I hope we will be back here at Hot Diggity Dogs again. There are many choices of different kinds of hot dogs here. Here are a few of my favorite pictures I took while we visited here.
This was a fun place.
Here are more pictures of Hot Diggity Dogs on Facebook.
Thanks, Hot Diggity Dogs, for the delicious lunch! We had fun here.
Here is the official Hot Diggity Dogs website. You can check out their menu items and they have a map here too.

Photos from the Elves' Faire at the Linden Waldorf School
Photos from the Elves' Faire
These are photos from the recent Elves' Faire at the Linden Waldorf School in Nashville, Tennessee.
I posted these on my Facebook page, but wanted to share some of the best ones here too.
Background: I have been wanting to check out this yearly event ever since the first time I saw it on the way to visit my Mom, who lives in Nashville now.
It is a celebration with great crafts, costumes, and fun for kids and adults. They also had food there, plus activities you could buy with tickets.
I liked what I learned about Waldorf schools. There are not many of them, but I hope they grow in number, because they seem to allow students to be more creative and help design their own learning experiences.
Here are some of my favorite pictures, and a link to more. I know I will be back to this Faire again next year. It was fun, and I found some great little gifts here too.
There were some really cute dolls and figures. |
I liked these necklaces too. |
Here is the line waiting to get in. |
A neat costume, and a booth too. |
A beautiful decoration. |
Getting ready for jousting. |
Here are all of the photos posted at Facebook.
They include some photos of the school, other booths and crafts, more people on the grounds, and the surrounding grounds.
There are some fun costumes in there too.

Annabel Park, the Coffee Party, and the Occupy Movement (fixed link)
<Version 2: Attn: the link has been fixed below.>
Are you following the Occupy Movement? How about the Coffee Party?
I am.
I am very proud of the people who have gotten out and voiced their concerns with what has happened in Wall Street with the Bail-Out and the Too-Big-To-Fail concept. I don't feel so alone in feeling that these policies are "not sustainable" (per Annabel Park). I am also concerned about my government. I feel like my vote is not helping anymore.
The voting system in the U.S. is broken and needs to be fixed. Plus we need to actually get something done in Washington!
I have been a member of The Coffee Party for awhile, online. Now they are getting ready to speak out on Monday (tomorrow) with our representatives in Washington to seek common ground.
I like this video, below:
http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/CoffeeP
In this video, Annabelle Park, the founder of the Coffee Party, explains about the meetings that will begin happening tomorrow between members and their legislators in Washington.
Ms. Park explains that for her, it's not just a matter of Republican vs. Democrat. It's the fact that our political system is broken and needs to be fixed. I totally agree. We have to work together to help break the do-nothing gridlock that has taken over our country.
I agree with Annabel Park that Wall Street must stop gaming the system and buying elections. Citizens United are also concerned about this. Now we have undisclosed and unrestricted donations to candidates. This has led to a government that is responding to donors instead of to the people.
Here are some more of Annabel Park's questions:
We need to look at the thinking behind these things. We need to focus on Smart Government, not small government. There is a "cognitive" program that goes back to campaign finance laws. People need 6 million dollars to run for office. "This is something we need to put an end to," Ms. Park says, and "we need to have a cultural change" because "the parties have been corrupted by money."
I agree with this so much. This program has callers and questions that are VERY interesting! She handled her negative callers with finesse. I think you will agree!
Check it out and comment below if you want to.
I will be following this story and also what happens later!

Why do we have such big subsidies for big companies?
What are the reasons behind them?
What is smart?
What is fair?
What are our priorities?
Do we really need all our bases around the world?
Are our policies in line with our values?

Photos from the WKU Homecoming Parade 2011
That WKU Homecoming parade on Saturday was so fun.
It started at Western (I think) and then came down to Fountain Square Park, in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky. It got darker as night started to fall.
Here are a few of my favorite photos in a slightly smaller size than the ones I put on Flickr.
This was a great parade. The marchers were full of school spirit. I have more photos of this parade on Flickr uploading now.

This is SO cool. Pendulum motion waves.
This is so cool.
I have the YouTube video of this here. It is about simple harmonic and non-harmonic motion.
I loved it. I think you will, too. Check it out.
My cousin sent this link to me on Facebook. Here is the original link, which tells about these Pendulum Waves. It is from a Harvard Science lecture demonstration. Here is a quote from this page:
"What it shows: Fifteen uncoupled simple pendulums of monotonically increasing lengths dance together to produce visual traveling waves, standing waves, beating, and random motion. One might call this kinetic art and the choreography of the dance of the pendulums is stunning! Aliasing and quantum revival can also be shown."
Read on in this article to find out how it works and how they set it up.

2012 New Photography Contest from the Historic Railpark and Train Museum
A nice camera from the Microsoft Images site. |
Love photography?
Here is a new contest I found out about today. This was emailed to me.
It is the 2012 Historic Railpark and Train Museum 2012 Photo Contest.
It ends December 31st, so there is plenty of time to take bunches of photos and pick the best photos to send in. I see that last year's winners were photos of actual trains.
Here is the contest information from the Southern Kentucky Photographer's Club Ning Contest Information Page:
"Contest entry dates are October 1st-December 30th and includes cash prizes. The full contest details are included in the attached PDF or you can download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9nleex0b88nnzvb. If neither option works, email sokypc@gmail.com and I'll send the PDF via email attachment.
If you still have questions after reading the PDF, they should be addressed to:
Sharon Tabor, Executive Director, Historic RailPark & Train Museum, 401 Kentucky St., Ste. B, Bowling Green, KY 42101, 270-745-7317. Good luck everyone!!"
The Southern Photography Clubs Ning page is here: http://sokyphotographers.ning.com
You can join the SOKYPC for $5.00 a month or $30.00 per year.
There is another photography club in town too, called the Sunny 16 Camera Club. Here is its website:
http://www.sunnysixteen.org/. It is $24.00 per year or $30.00 per year for a family membership.
I have not joined either (yet) but you can sign up for free at the Ning site for the SOKYPC.

Making pottery and minis - it was fun!
I love minis.
We have some of them downtown at the Pots Place Co-op Studio and Gallery in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Here are some pictures of the minis that are in the shop. I think they are cute. I have a couple at home.
I made some mini Fairy Doors that took just as long as regular ones! So I think I'll stick to the larger sizes... It was fun to make these, but a lot more difficult. I could not fit my fingers underneath the handles, so I had to use a teeny stick. But it was good practice!
About the price of these, I don't think people will buy the super-little ones for the same price. But since they took just as long to make, maybe the price will be similar. I also made some teeny pots with texture. Maybe I will give these little ones away for Christmas presents...
Here is what some of my minis looked like right after I made them. They have not been glazed or stained yet. I am wondering whether to leave them alone and not even stain them. Maybe I will stain them very lightly.
Are you an artist? What do you like doing most? Or are you somebody who likes art? What kind of art do you like best?

The Pots Place Silent Auction for Capitol Arts in Bowling Green Kentucky
Hi - this is a quick blurb about the Pots Place silent auction, other people/businesses who are having Silent Auctions, and the benefit for the Capitol Arts Alliance here in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Capitol Arts Alliance helps put on plays, concerts, art shows, and other community events at the Capitol Arts Center, located on the Square in downtown Bowling Green at 416 East Main Street. They recently announced a partnership with the new SKyPAC Center being built now in Bowling Green.
I got a neat poster today about the benefit from Theresa at the new Tea Squares - A Sweet Boutique store in downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky. They are located at 906 State Street, on the Square downtown.
There are SO many businesses helping with this. That is so great. They are calling it Capital for the Capitol.
Here is that poster, below. Click on it to see a bigger version of it.
I am glad so many people are having silent auctions. If you are in the area, stop by the Pots Place and bid on our Pottery Basket. Thanks! And of course, bid on any of the other great auctions listed above on the poster.
This event ends on October 15th.
And be sure to give Theresa's store a visit in person and online at the Tea Squares Facebook page. She has done a lot of free work for this campaign for such a good cause. Thanks for all the work, Theresa!
Here is an article about TeaSquares: A Sweet Boutique from the BuyLocalBG site.
You can see the pottery that is in the Pots Place basket here on their Facebook page.
Just scroll down to see these photos.
And here is the Pots Place website. I still have one more artist to talk about on the site, some more photos to post, and some more pages to do. One of these days!

A Standard Poodle and its friend.
What a good dog. |
A dog and its minder.
This photo was taken in Nashville, right up the street from Whole Foods.
I liked this dog and its owner, but mostly the dog.
I am used to seeing tiny poodles, but this one was a retro full-size poodle and looked so coiffed.
The dog also looks very smart, which I hear poodles are anyway. What a handsome dog. Check out his paws.
The young man on the smartphone reminds me of some people I saw in Barnes and Noble yesterday. For the first time, I saw two people reading books from their E-Readers instead of "regular" books in the store.
My yard needs a mowing, and it may be the last one. |
