Fluffy snow is so appealing... some photos.

Don't you just love snow?

Here in South Central Kentucky we got a nice, fluffy snowfall yesterday. It melted soon after it fell, but it was sure pretty.

This big building may still be for sale. I would buy it if I had the money. It's a fine old building. The Odd Fellows group used to meet there. There are lots of office spaces there too, plus the bottom part is rented.

The snow looks nice in front of here too. So far, Bowling Green has not had much of the white stuff. But I do like seeing it here sometimes. Of course, on the news, we saw other parts of the country with cars piled up, accidents, and vehicles trying to get out of snow drifts (the dark side of a snowfall!) too.

But isn't snow just delightful sometimes?

The snow looks especially good downtown. The park is so pretty. Plus I like the buildings in downtown Fountain Square Park here in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Especially the older ones. They do look especially good with some snow falling in front of them. :-)

Above, you can see Tea Squares is open (the building with the awning). They have soup, great sandwiches, and of course, little squares of cake you can have for dessert. Also, there is lots to look at in the store. Just get a little wooden table and check out the wall displays. You can buy gifts there too.
Teresa Shea, an owner, is often there - I got to meet her after she moved here from New Orleans. If you see her, say hi for me.

And two doors down to the left is Mr. Holland at his store, Holland House. His little (but cute!) store features lots of items for stamp and coin collectors. I saw some really neat old U.S. paper money last time I was there. I like the displays there.

Well, time to be off and check my other blogs.

Join me online - I'd love to see you there.

Making new memories for Christmas, and the Hobbit Movie was great!

This year we had such fun.

We unwrapped presents, then had some Chinese food, then saw the movie The Hobbit.

I loved it!

And can't wait until the next movie in the trilogy. Some people said online they didn't like the special effects, but I thought they were really great.

It's been a busy, busy week, and will be busier until next week. But I liked today, and will put it among my cherished memories.

How was your holiday week? Good, I hope.

The Eloise B. Houchens Center Trees of Christmas Exhibit

The theme for this year's Trees of Christmas was Trees Around the World.

There were so many different trees - upstairs and downstairs. The Houchens Center also has a gift area, and you can donate to the group of your choice below each tree.

The exhibit is totally free! So if you have not seen this yet, put it on your list. It is open 10-2 Monday through Friday, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 1-4 through the 22nd.

There are so many more trees to see. I had a wonderful time.

More photos are here on my FB photo page too.

What a great exhibit. And there were so many OTHER groups represented there besides the Eloise B Houchens Center. I saw a tree representing the Moose Lodge and also one for the Girl Scouts.

I found out about more groups I didn't even know about, which was also fun.

Later!

Richpond Market has great food! Plus I posted a cute Anime girl photo.

Richpond Market and Deli has GREAT tenderloin biscuits. Just saying. They also have steak biscuits.

In fact, they are famous for them!

I also liked this hand-painted sign.

Are you ready for the holidays? Have your Christmas tree up? I am curious.

I don't have our tree up... and the presents are not all wrapped yet. BUT I have gotten a lot done anyhow.

Here is hoping you have a great Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, Winter Soltice, etc. etc. Gather your loved ones around you and let them know you love them.

If you are not back here before then, have a Merry Christmas -  - Joyous Solstice - Happy Hanukkah - and Merry Yuletide!

I love this photo. It reminds me of the many anime books I have been reading lately.

Isn't she cute?

A Fun Breakfast at Taco Del Mar

Rickey and I have been talking about visiting this new Mexican place, Taco Del Mar.

We almost didn't go in today, mostly because it wasn't in its own building, but instead attached to a Shell station. But it was cute outside. It had a surfboard table too.

I took some pictures (below).

We each had a Breakfast Burrito, which turned out pretty big, because we could have all kinds of good stuff in it (custom made) and I picked guacamole, lettuce, salsa, and more (but as usual NOT hot peppers...) They had chorizo, and I liked it too.

I also had a Breakfast Taco, but took it home for lunch, along with half of the Breakfast Burrito.  We said we'd try to go back, maybe for breakfast, and maybe for lunch. Without the coffee, our bill was only $7.80. Not bad!

We liked the decorations and photos around the restaurant AND the price. I went next door to get a hot coffee and there was sugar-free vanilla coffee too so I made a combo.

Rickey looked Taco Del Mar up online, and found out it was a chain. It was one I had never been to before. I think they will get more visitors when there is a Corvette Museum event. I hope they get to stay. It's a cute place.

I liked it, and so did Rickey.  I think I'll put the pictures up on Facebook too.

Ale 8 - next door

Friends and Family - also 1961?

1961 - notice the rudders on these big size surfboards.

Check out the BIG surfboards around.

Love the hut topper.

Tiki Table!
I like the tree too.

My Happenings Sunday - Thursday posting...My Other blog... plus Popular Postings.

Halloween - - my other blog -- and the most popular postings here.

And here are the events in the area I had here last night: see the Garden Spot plus BG Events blog. I switched this back over this morning.

I was in a hurry! So I posted the events here instead of to my other blog. Wet noodle time...

Anyway, I am considering blending both of these blogs, but not yet.

Friends - at the Pumpkin Patch at Cheekwood. My photo.

Are you ready for Halloween yet?

We have our Trader Joe's candy and crackers ready, though we usually don't have many trick or treaters on Halloween. But I do like the holiday!

Here are some other blog postings to read. They are the very most popular of all of them.

Thoughts about the Rockfield Post Office

We pick up our mail here.

The property next to the Rockfield Post Office used to be Rockfield School, and was used for an antique store for some time. It was packed with neat things different dealers brought in.

AND it is plenty big.

This day (a couple of days ago...) I saw that the windows were completely out in the back of the school. Rickey says it has been that way for awhile.

No doubt they are fixing the windows... but I wonder if they should put something there where the glass used to be.

The property owned by whoever owns this has been sold (the house near there) but this seems to still be on the market.

It is plenty big, but needs some work, like replacing some bricks on the outside and some other holes besides the new window holes.

NOW it needs windows. But you do get a LOT of property. The sign says 16,600 square feet for the building, plus 3.5 acres, I think.

Here are some photos I took. I could see in the window spaces just a little bit to see the fans, stairs, what looks like a blackboard, and some kind of machine - maybe a floor cleaner.

Some birds on a window sill flew away as I got closer with the camera.

I hope our government votes to let the Post Offices close on Saturdays to save money. I wouldn't mind if they closed on Friday either.

Have a great week! I hope to post again soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

Later!

The Artistic Soul Studio, John Carpenter posters, and a future Film Festival!

I recently visited the new poster store, the Artistic Soul Studio.

It is located at 1014 E. 11th Street (and yes, you can park in front of the garage.)

Inside there are some great John Carpenter movie posters as part of the World Premiere John Carpenter Movie Poster Art Exhibit.

Some of the John Carpenter movie posters are for sale, and some are not.

Here are some photos of a few: (pardon the lights!)

I can remember when the Speculative Fiction Society at Western put on the very first John Carpenter Film Festival.

Bowling Green should do that again. John Carpenter is very famous and I think the event would be fabulous and fun.

We could have it at the Capitol Arts building or even SKyPAC. Do you agree? Let me know with a comment below.

Anyway, the tour of this cute gallery was fun. They have some great posters of all kinds there.

I wrote a Squidoo lens about John Carpenter called John Carpenter, Halloween, and Bowling Green, Kentucky - (there IS a connection!) You can find out more about him and about his films there.

And here is the link to this movie poster exhibit: (via the visitbgky site): World Premiere John Carpenter Movie Poster Art Exhibit.

Democratic Headquarters, Bowling Green, Kentucky

These photos are from a couple of weeks ago.

But we were pleased to see the Democratic Party Headquarters was up and running when we visited. It is located in the Hobby Lobby parking lot on Scottsville Road.

The back room has lots of space, and they have signs and bumper stickers to give out too, plus lots of information.

Here are just a few photos I took there:

I'm sure there is lots more set up there today. It's definitely worth a visit.

Walking in the Neighborhood... some surprises!

I went walking today in the Parkland Gardens neighborhood.

I like my neighborhood. It has many different kinds of houses in it, from the manicured to the rather scary. And across the street from Memphis Junction Road, there is a beautiful farm, complete with cows.

It is peaceful here and has lots of farm sounds, mostly mooing ones.

One house was already decorated for Halloween. I thought it was cute.

I took some photos today and will post them here. On the way home, someone drew up next to me in a car. She asked me if I were taking photos of houses for sale. I said no, because I was taking photos of lots of different things, the streets, the cows at the farm, AND some houses.

I did see one house for sale, and it looks very pretty.

Here are a few photos from today.

A cute tree decoration.

The road towards the farm.

Just saying hi - - it is raining here in Bowling Green, Kentucky

I knew the rain was coming, and it is finally here today. I'm very glad the grass is mowed!

This posting should be called, Projects in Bowling Green Kentucky, Getting organized for September 2012, throwing away clutter, labeling boxes, pricing and organizing boxes and books, book pricing, and looking for things you know you will never find. :-)

The little house and trees in the back yard - another project!

Today I got some things done, and cooked for the first time in awhile. I look forward to getting back to posting on all my blogs and sites again.

My jobs here today and continuing include pricing and organizing of books, clearing out of boxes, looking for long-lost paper items, and generally getting rid of much stuff that I don't use anymore.

I would love to have an attic or extra room! But this is working for now.

Here's a good size attic space, though it needs work. It is by Berr.e on Flickr.I lightened it up a tad...

The Flylady at the Flylady site has a saying, "You can't organize clutter." This is so true.

If I was a lot less cluttered right now in my house it would be SO much easier not to have to look through every packing box for something I didn't think I would ever need.

I plan to label all boxes with whatever is left so it will be easy to find the year and subject next time. So this is teaching me a good lesson. Be organized! And don't store clutter.

Wish me luck!

Are you organizing and/or looking for papers today or this week? Write a comment and let me know your methods.

And thanks for stopping by today!

Here is a photo of the Fountain Square Fountain - - it looks even better with the water going!

The American Idol Tryouts in Bowling Green, Kentucky

I heard these were such fun to watch and listen to.

And it happened today in Fountain Square Park! Many people lined up to watch. I caught a few pictures of the line as I came in to the Pots Place today.

There was a LOT of talent! I also took a closeup of a singer trying out for the judges.

Here are some of my photos from today:

The Square, blocked off for American Idol hopefuls.

The line stretched all the way down to Mariah's this morning.

A tryout closeup.

It was fun to see the beginning and part of the middle of the tryouts.

I have more photos posted on Flickr and also on Facebook.

Exciting, exciting. This may pull me towards watching American Idol this season. I especially want to watch the tryouts that took place today!
