My Happenings Sunday - Thursday posting...My Other blog... plus Popular Postings.

Halloween - - my other blog -- and the most popular postings here.

And here are the events in the area I had here last night: see the Garden Spot plus BG Events blog. I switched this back over this morning.

I was in a hurry! So I posted the events here instead of to my other blog. Wet noodle time...

Anyway, I am considering blending both of these blogs, but not yet.

Friends - at the Pumpkin Patch at Cheekwood. My photo.

Are you ready for Halloween yet?

We have our Trader Joe's candy and crackers ready, though we usually don't have many trick or treaters on Halloween. But I do like the holiday!

Here are some other blog postings to read. They are the very most popular of all of them.

The Awesome Ladies of Charity Consignment Sale

Oh, is this ever an awesome sale.

It is in Nashville, which is not far from here, and really worth it to go to.

There is clothing, belts, hats, suits, blouses, shirts, dresses, even formal wear... it goes on and on. AND the sizes are generally in the right place, and labeled.

There are many famous labels, and really neat fashionable stuff.

I love this sale.

You can take 10 things at once to try on.

Here are just a couple photos of it from outside:

The outside, where all the nearby spaces were taken.

You can feel good about spending your money here.

A closer view. I almost got some shoppers in this one.

Rickey laden with clothes...

This lot was also full, and people were waiting for a space.

Next time I will try to get some inside photos. We may go tomorrow too. What a fun sale - - it's the best around.

The famous columnist, Ms. Cheap, from Nashville, also loves this sale.

June 12th Holidays and More, Loving Day, Crowded Nests, and Peanut Butter Cookies.

Holidays for today, June 12th, 2012, and
Betsy's Soapbox for the Day.

Some beautful and colorful flowers from Vicci at her Moon, Stars, and Paper blog

According to the site Brownielocks.com (their June page), today has three different holidays they like. Here they are, in no particular order.

#1. Crowded Nest Awareness Day

#2. National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

and

#3. Loving Day, a day celebrating legalized interracial marriage. (The name is from the Loving vs. Virginia court case). I didn't know much about this ruling until the last few years. Find out more at the Loving Day website.

I especially like the last name of the first couple (Loving!) to be legally married and have different races.

It's hard to pick a favorite between these. The best and most important day is probably #3, because it celebrates repealing a situation that wasn't right in the first place.

I do love peanut butter cookies, though people who are allergic probably don't, but hopefully can have almond cookies or something to approximate the nutty-good taste.

Crowded Nest Awareness Day is another one I have not heard of. BUT I do know about a site and page that celebrate this awareness in a big way every day. It is called  Gypsy Nesters. This couple celebrates their life without kids by traveling and writing about their free and gypsy-like life.

It is a whole new and original take on being an empty nester. Their description of their website is "The Gypsy Nester - Celebrating Life After Kids - Breaking the Empty Nest Rules."

Here they are on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gypsynesters.

Know of more neat holidays today? List them below as a comment.

Today is Kamehameha Day in Hawaii. It is a State Holiday there.

Today is June 11th, 2012 - Kamehameha Day in Hawaii!

I think this would be a GREAT day to be in Hawaii. They have "lei-draping, dancing, and King Kamehameha the Great's statues are draped in lei's. Also, games, fairs, and tours are held.

This is a beautiful photo of Oahu, Hawaii.

This photo is of Oahu Makapuu Point, and is by Alex, who has a travel blog.

King Kamehameha the Great united all the Hawaiian islands in the 1700's, giving more of a political identity to Hawaii.

This holiday sounds really nice, and is a State holiday there in Hawaii.

Read a poem about Kamehameha Day 2012 from the Caddo Veil site

Events today for the holiday - from The Maui News

Have you ever stayed in Hawaii? What is a nice place to stay? What island should a first-time visitor go to?

A trip to the Mellow Mushroom Restaurant in Bowling Green, Kentucky

Our trip to the Mellow Mushroom in Bowling Green, Kentucky

We went out to the new Mellow Mushroom restaurant near downtown at 1035 Chestnut Street last month and it was so fun. We sat inside and watched the staff open an umbrella outside.

There were many great choices on the menu. We wound up sharing a Mediterranean style pizza and it was great.

One thing I really thought was great. By mistake, our pizza got burned. SO... the manager came to our table and said we were getting another one made, and it was on them. How cool is that??

My daughter especially loved them tossing up the pizza crust.

I'll definitely be back. What a fun place. Here are a couple of photos of the outside and one of the inside:
