Planning my garden - part 1

THE GARDEN
I am definitely planning a garden this year.

It's a lot of fun to plan it, but I know it will be a lot of work. I also know I want to have some of my favorite things in it, like tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and peppers. It's learning how to plant heirloom varieties and how to save the seeds for next year that will have me researching a lot.

THE YARD
My yard, I'm sure like a lot of others, needs a LOT of help this year. We had a huge ice storm that took a lot of branches off of the front Weeping Willow tree. Although I had a lot of branches taken away, there are a lot on the ground still. I see a lot of raking happening soon.

SPRING!
It's over 70 degrees today, and I know I'll be busy planting not long from now. I will take pictures of the garden throughout the year to show what I am doing.

My willow tree branches are now gone.

I called Clay Byrd at Byrd's Do-It All Service, and he came and carted off the willow branches in my yard. He gives free estimates, and is a WKU student too.

If you need help with yard work, remodeling, tree trimming, painting, and more, you can call him at 270-784-8001.

Thanks, Clay!

The Willow Tree starts to get new leaves

I got this picture a few weeks ago. The tree is starting to get new leaves. I love this time of year.

Today it rained again. The lawn won't be mowed until much later. It looks very green and beautiful, but the grass is very much too long.

I like it that the willow tree's leaves and branches sweep around when there is a wind. It shows off -- swinging back and forth on the shades and curtains in the house and dances there all summer long.
