Sharing my FB posting - - is it really Women's Equality Day? I beg to differ.

I keep seeing Women's Equality Day postings today.

And don't agree with sharing that on social media. It's the whole title that gets me.

I think they should call today "Women Get the Vote in the U.S. Day - let's remember that day - - and all the Sisters who made it happen" instead of "Women's Equality Day". Because everyone knows women have not achieved true equality yet.

One example: women don't get paid as much as men do, for the exact same job. Why? Because companies and employers do it because they won't be prosecuted for it. I don't see the Wage Police going into companies and arresting bosses who do this. Some people actually believe that women don't need as much money as men do, which of course is ignoring all kinds of single women households, for one thing.

Obviously, that is not an example of equality.

We also don't get promoted like men in some cases, and we still have many "glass ceilings" to break for women, that is for sure.

Women still are not really equal in many countries. Some can't drive, some can't work, even if they want to. Some can't make any decisions at all in their own lives. Some actually come to believe that since they are women, they are not worth much.

I am not saying that men are not working to change this, many are. They do all they can sometimes. And many make a huge difference in the lives of women in their families and more.

And wouldn't it be nice if women were truly equal to men in every way, everywhere?

Then we could have a day for it, and call it "Women's Equality Day" for the whole world.
