The real Tootsie carried a hatpin with her and poked it into people who weren't doing what she wanted. She's been gone a long time, Rickey said. She helped many country stars get started.
There also used to be a door in the back of here where country music stars playing at the Grand Ol' Opry snuck in and drank inbetween sets.
I visited the Purple Orchid way back in 1976. Your making me feel old. It looks like the the place hasn't changed much. From what I remember it was kind of a small long and narrow bar. My band did a demo at Woodland's sound studio at the time. Thanx for the memories.
